  1. You're so good at getting the values and colours spot on (not to mention the excellent drawing skills). I find my brain keeps deceiving me - any tips? Is it a matter of roughing the values first? How about the colours - do you sort out a palette before you begin?

  2. Hey Stefan, I feel the best thing about painting outside is, that I'm not really thinking and just painting. I'm not separating values and colors. The palette develops itself within the painting process but often my first impression of a scene gives me a basic direction for it ( warm/cold).. For me pleinair painting is refreshing because it keeps me from following a technique.
    I'm just observing and putting down the color. There are so many unexpected colors and values outside which I would never imagine painting in my studio...
